From passionate and diverse teachers and staff to our steadfast focus on student-centered learning, our Stockton charter public schools put our students’ needs at the forefront of everything that we do. Each of our seven organizations are committed to establishing and upholding rigorous academic experiences that empower students to confidently navigate their academic endeavors and prepare them to be future leaders, innovators, and drivers of positive change in our communities and our world.
Keeping Students at the Center
Class sizes are intentionally kept small and teachers make every effort to ensure students receive individualized instruction, personal attention, and support. Gloria Peña, KIPP Stockton parent, shares, “We learned about how KIPP Stockton will individualize learning to meet her specific learning needs…this kind of personal attention is just what our daughter needs…With KIPP we know that she won’t slip through the cracks.” Teachers and staff also establish and maintain open communication with parents. Rosa Arreola, another KIPP Stockton parent, explains, “During the first weeks of school, Vanelly’s homeroom teacher, Mr. H. called me at home to introduce himself. He asked about my dreams for Vanelly and shared about myself and his goals for the year. He made me feel comfortable and heard as a parent.”
Impact Beyond the Classroom
Our goal is to see our students thrive—in the classroom and beyond. No matter their age, the youth are capable of making an impact. Stockton public charter schools deeply care about our local communities and work to foster community partnerships and help students gain the knowledge and skills to be active contributors to local issues. For instance, Unbound Stockton Community Schools website proudly states, “Our community is our classroom.” They believe that students learn best through real-world experiences that allow them to work collaboratively, think critically, and problem-solve. TEAM Charter Schools echo this sentiment in their curriculum highlights, which include project-based learning. Their approach goes beyond textbooks, allowing students to apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios through critical thinking and practical problem-solving skills. By encouraging students to be involved in local happenings, students develop an appreciation for our city and become invested in building a stronger community. Mr. P, a science teacher at KIPP Stockton Middle School, puts it best: “I want them to be inspired and empowered to come back to Stockton as adults and start businesses and organizations that continue to build up their city and community.”
